Speedbumps…

You see, the problem with machinery is that it tends to break, and leave you very sad. Something is up with my machine. It’s trying to devour everything I try to sew. I have tried lots of stuff from the manual to try to fix it, but now I’m just frustrated.

I have however, been knitting and crocheting again. I seem to go through periods of really ho humness, and then WHAM! I get huge gusto and finish a project super quickly.  I still need to sew in some ends but I should have some pictures up soon. I also went digging and found this really nice super bulky yarn I forgot I had that was begging me to crochet it. I have been winging it without a pattern, with interesting results and much unraveling…But I’m liking where it’s going.

So at least one disaster has produced inspiration elsewhere.

EB Fat Quarter Challeng FO #1

Today I unrolled my fat quarter and L begged me to make him something. I thought that was fair seeing as I hadn’t sewn anything for him yet. So I made him a little crayon roll, seeing as he loves to draw, and I always find his crayons strewn across the house.

He couldn’t wait to start using it. He even told me there was no time for photos! And of course, once it was finished, I couldn’t find any of his crayons anywhere!

Finding Time…

Oh dear, all of a sudden I have things I need to make and no time…On my list I have:

  • Something for T’s 1st birthday present
  • T’s 2nd pair of ribbed shorties
  • Bib’s for friends Bub
  • Bag for friend’s 3 yr old (both are belated Christmas presents)
  • Organise and make T’s cake on the weekend
  • Something for the EB Fat Quarter challenge

Last week I had alot of time for sewing, but it seems now I have taken a break over the weekend, I can’t get 5 minutes in for it!

My Second Bag

Tonight I was in a bad mood. One of those days. So I took my grumps to the sewing room. Ahhh, personal space! I managed to make my second square bottomed bag, which is much better than the first, which I’m not showing :o P

I have finally used some paisley! I have always wanted some.

Circular needle clutch

I’m a big fan of Craft Leftovers, and I loved her clutch patterns. So I made the circular needle one as well. I wanted to use white top stitching, but after the wonky crochet hook one, I decided to use black just in case. But then my stitching ended up A LOT better than the first time. Anyway, here are the pictures:

The Hat of Many Colours

beanie, originally uploaded by tara-lalala.

Well L had been bugging me to make him a beanie for ages. I had to wait until I had finished the ribbed pants to use the circs. Anyway, “what colour beanie? Blue? Green? Orange?”

“NO! I WANT RAINBOWS!”

Fair enough. So we went out and he chose this yarn and I rather like how it turned out. Reminds me of parrots.

My Mary Janes

colour issues sorted !, originally uploaded by tara-lalala.

Ok, so last year I went out on a limb and made my own pattern for some booties. First time I had ever designed anything. I am still working on it, and changing it every now and then. I just love them. I hope to have a pattern available one day.

Ribbed Shorties

Well my knitting triumph of 2007 was definitely these shorts for T. Worked in the round in 3×3 rib it was a bit of an effort. I dyed the yarn also and I’m actually really proud of them!

The pattern is free from here .

It’s wonky…..But I’m new

Ok, this is my 2nd ever sewing project. And I know the stitching around the bias tape is wonky, but it turned out it was harder than I thought. I unpicked it twice, and this i think, is as good as I can get for now. I found this cute pattern here: Craft Leftovers

All it needs now is a cute button.

Practice practice practice….

So! A Blog Eh?

Hello! Seeing as I am still trying to figure all this out I’ll keep this short.  Hopefully I will have this looking good with lots of crafty goodness very soon.

A little about me? Well I’m a Mum of two terrors boys who keep me on my toes. L is 3.5 and T is almost 1. In what little and precious spare time I have I am usually crafting.  I can’t keep my hands still. I love Crochet, knitting, felting, VERY new to sewing, but already hooked. Anything creative, I want to do it.

So, Join the fun!
