My First Pair of Socks!
They are finally done, and it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be!

The pattern came from Drops Design here.
major accomplishment!
I finally (after many tries, and much swearing) turned a sock heel. I must admit when I first got my invite to Ravelry and discovered the sock hype, I didn’t get it. I didn’t understand how people could want to knit SO many socks! But now I do. I have been terrified of DPNS for a long time, and usually I avoid them like the plague. But I decided this would be a sort of ‘fear conquering’ exercise. The yarn is some that I hand painted myself a couple of weeks ago. I figured what would be better on a cold, dreary, grey day in the middle of winter than some totally out there, funky socks that remind me of a sunny summer’s day? Anyway, now I need to finish them!

Boldy Going Brioche
Well, in one of my many late nights spent stumbling through patterns on Ravelry, I found one that I really liked the look of. It was Fourteen by John Brinegar. So I jumped in head first, seeing as I had the perfect yarn in the stash that had been waiting for a project for over a year. I quickly discovered I had no idea what Brioche Rib was. After much googling and panicking, I finally got it. And I love the result. It is such a great idea, as I hate big scarf tails flapping around, the stitch is SO warm and squishy.

Just need to find a hat pattern I like and I’ll be all set for winter.
